Race order is as follows:
     Race 1 – Iron
     Race 2 – Bronze 1
     Race 3 – Bronze 2
     Race 4 – Silver
     Race 5 – Gold

Competitors may commence with their respective time trials any time between 11:00 and 15:00.

Only Silver and Gold competitors will compete in the Mountain Battle.

Ntoa ea Thaba

This will be structured as a timed special test over natural terrain. It is a 1.5km loop with a start and finish timing point.

12:00 – 14:00 – Open practice / qualifying for Gold and Silver classes.

Each competitor will be permitted to complete as many laps as they like within the two hour window.

14:00 The course will close and the fastest time of each competitor will be posted.

The Top 20 in each class will qualify for a final race.

14:30 Final Races

1 – Silver
2 – Gold

  • Three lap races. 
  • Dead Engine start. 
  • Competitors lined up 10 meters away from their bikes.
  • Shotgun start.

Start order for Friday:

Gold Class 
Based on The Mountain Battle results. 1st – 10th place will leave at 20sec intervals; 11th – 40th place at 10sec intervals.

Silver Class 
Based on The Mountain Battle results. 1st – 10th place will leave at 20sec intervals; 11th – 90th place at 10sec intervals.

Bronze Class
Based on the Time Trial results. The first 10min will be on corrected time; thereafter, intervals of 20sec (2 riders every 20 seconds).

Iron Class 
Based on the Time Trial results. The first 10min will be on corrected time; thereafter, intervals of 20sec (2 riders every 20 seconds).

Friday will comprise of 110 – 160km of riding in the Mountain Kingdom.

Start order for Saturday:

Gold Class 
Based on their combined overall times from the first two racing days. The first 10min will be on corrected time; thereafter, intervals of 20sec (2 riders every 20 seconds).

Silver Class 
Based on their combined overall times from the first two racing days. The first 10min will be on corrected time; thereafter, intervals of 20sec (2 riders every 20 seconds).

Bronze Class
Based on their combined overall times from the first two racing days. The first 10min will be on corrected time; thereafter, intervals of 20sec (2 riders every 20 seconds).

Iron Class 
Based on their combined overall times from the first two racing days. The first 10min will be on corrected time; thereafter, intervals of 20sec (2 riders every 20 seconds).

Saturday will comprise of 40 – 100km of riding in the Mountain Kingdom.

DSP – Designated Service Point
     1 x Designated Service Point on Friday for all classes
     Two Bridges – S29 33.598 E27 45.693
     10-minute decontrol for all classes
     You will be issued a sticker with your exit time as you enter the DSP

  • It is the rider’s responsibility to report back to the same timing marshal to leave on time

USP – Unassisted Service Points
     No outside assistance at all.

     Competitor crew MAY NOT – fill up the motorcycle, provide the rider with             any support, tools, parts, food, drink, hydration packs, goggles or gloves.           No support at all.

     Event organisers will provide fuel and we will provide hydration and nutrition       through USN.


FUEL
The organizers will provide fuel at the USPs ONLY!

There will be two options of fuel provided

  • Unleaded Fuel
  • Pre-mixed Fuel – using Motul 710 2-stroke Oil at a mix ratio of 40:1

There will be NO fuel provided at the DSP’s by the organizers. All competitors will need to have a crew or arrange with someone’s crew to have fuel for them at this point.

Fuel before the START of each racing day is the competitors responsibility

The USN Team will be activating daily at the start, on the route with water points and at the post-race recovery zone. Products, that will assist with optimal mineral and electrolyte replenishment and rehydration, will be available throughout the race.

This facility will be free of charge for Roof riders.

At the end of each day’s competition, riders will be able to have their bikes washed using Moto Wash, a biodegradable degreaser product from MOTUL’s MC Care range.

The MOTUL Bike Wash will consist of ten wash bays, with Goscor Power Products providing the high-pressure washers.


Michelin and Bike Tyre Warehouse are happy to offer pricing exclusively to Roof of Africa competitors!

Roof competitors who pre-order will secure stock on a PRIORITY basis – first come first served!

Limited stock will be available on-site to purchase.

Over and above, Michelin and Bike Tyre Warehouse will offer ALL competitors free tyre assistance during the Roof Of Africa 2022 event.

Michelin tyre service stations will be setup at Bushman’s for all three racing days – Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Alternatively at the end of each racing day the Michelin tyre service station will move to Avani Lesotho Hotel and Casino to operate until 21:00.

Tyre Changing Competition
On Wednesday 9 November, Michelin will be running a tyre changing competition at Avani Lesotho Hotel and Casino. The fastest tyre-change will win an Extreme Michelin rear tyre!
